Accra is the capital and largest city of Ghana on the Atlantic coast of West Africa. The name Ghana was derived from the Mande tradition, which literally means “Warrior King”. It is the most dense populated city in the country.

Petroleum is the main driving power of Ghana’s economy. It has the 5th largest oil reserve in Africa and the 6th largest in the world in terms of natural gas reserves. In addition, Ghana is among the largest producers of gold and diamond in the world. Other economic activities in Accra include the financial and commercial sectors, fishing, and the manufacture of processed food, lumber, plywood, textiles, clothing, and chemicals. Tourism is becoming a thriving source of business for those in arts and crafts, historical sites, and local travel and tour agents.
